One of it's strengths as a DPS is its not dependent on Genji Gloves. Time Mage offers +3 - 5 Battle Lores and heavy armor and doesn't "waste" a Genji Gloves job or better weapon. It also offers a really good spell list that doesn't overwhelm the Shikari job unlike the White Mage.
